Meet the Visionary Behind MUFASA

Moises Iván Cruz Altamirano was born in Mexico City (formerly D.F.), with deep roots in two of Mexico’s most culturally rich states—Oaxaca on his father’s side, and Nayarit on his mother’s. He is the son of Gameli Cruz García, a respected leader in education across Mexico, and Dionicia Altamirano Gómez, a former English teacher in CDMX and currently a skilled accountant and HR professional in the United States.

Raised in Tecate, Baja California, Moises immigrated to the United States at the age of 12. Like many immigrants, he worked a variety of jobs—from construction and roofing to sales—but art and music were always his true passions.

Throughout his adult life, Moises built, owned and operated several businesses. Still, he felt a calling for something deeper—something with purpose. That calling became clear after the heartbreaking loss of his father, aunt, and uncle, who passed away within days of each other. In the midst of grief, Moises received a vision: to fuse the sacred arts of the hills of Jalisco and Nayarit with the ancestral traditions of Oaxaca.

He left everything behind in the U.S. to pursue this dream, traveling through mountains, pueblos, and communities to find artisans who shared his heart and vision.

This is the vision of Mufasa: to fuse art, create jobs and help indigenous communities. Most of the proceeds from every piece directly benefit the communities and artist who work with so much patience, respect and love.

MUFASA is more than art.
It’s purpose, legacy, and heart. It is now the most exciting fusion of art in the world.
